okay so james’ grandfather was named henry, and harry is a nickname for henry, so what if james and lily actually named harry henry and they just called him harry, and petunia and vernon probably never knew because dumbledore didnt give them a birth certificate, so what if like after the war 18 year old harry is trying to fill out all the employment paperwork at the ministry and they keep telling him that they have no record of him and he’s really confused and frustrated and he’s talking to arthur about it one day and molly overhears and she’s like oh well try using your full name dear, and harry’s just like ??? i thought i was?? harry james potter, that’s what i wrote??? and molly’s just like, no henry dear, try henry james and that’s how harry potter finds out that his name isn’t actually harry

Gender roles in a nutshell: the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang entrances in The Goblet of Fire.

also, to my knowledge neither of those schools were sex-segregated in the books

That bothered me more than the Dumbledore yelling, actually.

Nicolas Flamel was an alum of Beauxbatons.

The first headteacher of Durmstrang was a witch.

Bam.

In the books, it even says that there were boys and girls from each school. Thanks Hollywood for making Durmstrang buff and all athletic men and Beauxbatons all feminine and dainty.

Just imagine what it would have meant for every kid watching, seeing girls walking beside the guys in Durmstrang being “manly” and boys walking with Beuxbaton being flirty and feminine.

It would have shown that girls and boys can be however they want.

It also suggested that the only way a female could have be selected to participate was if she was not up against any male competition. In the books Fleur is chosen as the best candidate for her school from a selection of female AND male students. And she was the best PERSON. Not the best GIRL.

all men are Russian and all Women are French.

First Auror Potter I have ever painted was on his birthday, July 31st, in 2016, and it’s the first of this collection. I think that’s why I started to think of him as an +20 yo auror. Somehow, it’s like he’s growing with me in real time. My vision of Harry Potter has matured over the years. He’s no longer a young boy in my mind as I’m no longer a child or teenager. What motivates me is to think he’s got wiser and more serious and all shit he’s been through since he was a kid made him even more sarcastic then he was. “No need to call me sir, professor” would turn into something like “You need to call me sir”.
