((So I just asked google how to pronounce and to me it’s quite easy I think… And Fastelavns sounds pretty. BUT. OMG. The meaning. So fastelavn is like carnival? Am I getting that right? We have words for it that are quite similar… depending on the dialect you grew up with it’s one of these words in German: Fastnacht, Fasnacht, Fasnet, Fasching, Fastabend, Fastelovend, Fasteleer.
We also have special sweets for that time of the year. Fastnachtskrapfen.
